Antiques, candlelight, and a basement dancefloor that never disappoints.

One of London’s Most Atmospheric Wedding Venues

Brunswick House is a Georgian mansion in Vauxhall packed floor to ceiling with antiques, salvage and candlelight. The upstairs rooms host the ceremony and dinner. The basement is where the evening really begins.

I’m a recommended supplier there, and I play it around six times a year. The basement is one of my favourite rooms in London to DJ in.

Why Brunswick House Works So Well for Live DJ Music

The Brunswick House basement doesn’t look like a wedding venue. Low ceilings, exposed brick, candlelight: it looks like the best house party you’ve ever been to. It’s exactly the kind of room I’ve been playing since my club nights at Dojo’s in Bristol.

The room does the work. You don’t need a festival-scale production or a DJ who talks over everything. You need the right music, played properly, at the right volume. The dancefloor fills fast and stays that way. I’ve had some of the best nights of my career down there.

What a Speaker Box Night at Brunswick House Looks Like

At Brunswick House, it typically all happens downstairs. The drinks reception starts in the basement, and sometimes the speeches too. So from the moment guests arrive, they’re already in the room: the candlelight, the low ceilings, the brick. I’ll play something warm and soulful to set the tone while people find their feet, then build through the evening as the energy shifts.

In the basement I’ll build the set the same way I would for a club night, reading the room, responding to who’s on the floor, letting the energy find its own level. Couples who book Brunswick House tend to have strong musical taste and a real idea of what they want. That’s exactly the brief I love.

I mix live on Technics turntables throughout. Your guests see a DJ actually DJing, which in a room like that basement makes a genuine difference to how the night feels.

What Previous Clients Have Said

“His vinyl collection and knowledge of music (hip-hop and R&B in particular) is second to none. We wanted something a bit more authentic, not one of these DJs that turns up with a memory stick. Marcus is the opposite of this.”

Michelle & Quentin, Google Review

“Marcus is a DJ in the proper sense — he mixes the songs live and gave care and attention to the ordering of our set list to make sure the music flowed well. So many of our guests commented on how unique the entire musical experience had been.”

Mubashir, Glassboat Bristol, Google Review

“A number of our guests commented on how much fun they had and how good the music was, and that is a testament to his skill.”
