Gothic windows, exposed brick, and a dancefloor in the Great Hall.

One of Dorset’s Most Iconic Wedding Venues

Lulworth Castle is a 17th-century hunting lodge on the Dorset coast, built to look like a castle and gutted by fire in 1929. What’s left is extraordinary: a restored shell with soaring exposed brick walls, tall gothic windows and a dancefloor set inside what was once the Great Hall. There is nowhere quite like it.

I’m a recommended supplier at Lulworth and play there most years. It’s one of my favourite rooms in the South West to DJ in.

Why Lulworth Castle Works So Well for Live DJ Music

I’ve DJed at Lulworth Castle more times than I can count, and every time it delivers something special. The acoustics work beautifully. The space responds well to music and the dancefloor fills early and stays that way. The intimate scale means every guest feels the energy rather than losing it to a cavernous void.

The venue’s character suits the Speaker Box approach perfectly. Couples who choose Lulworth Castle tend to have strong aesthetic sensibilities: they want their wedding to feel personal, distinctive, and genuinely memorable. That’s exactly the kind of brief I love to work with.

What a Speaker Box Night at Lulworth Castle Looks Like

Evenings at Lulworth typically start in the main house: dinner, drinks and speeches, before guests move into the castle for the evening. That entrance into the Great Hall is a proper moment. The room changes everything.

Once the room fills I build the set the same way I would a club night, reading the floor, responding to who’s dancing, letting the energy find its own level. The acoustics in that space are something else. The music lands differently when the walls are that old.

What Previous Couples Have Said

“Literally couldn’t have asked for more. Calm, competent, great taste in music. Zero fuss. Just, exactly what we needed even when we didn’t actually know what we needed.”

William Nash, Google Review

“Brilliant DJ. Marcus is a true artist. The music was spot on throughout the day and evening, and he kept the dance floor fun and accessible all night. He was incredibly patient with our guests and created a great atmosphere.”

George Bennett, Google Review

“Marcus was absolutely amazing at our wedding. We got so many messages the next day about the music and how much everyone loved the dance floor. I’d recommend him so highly!”
