London has no shortage of DJs. But if you’re after someone who actually DJs, live mixing on Technics turntables, a 20,000-track library, and two decades of reading rooms, rather than someone pressing play on a laptop, then it’s worth looking beyond the M25.

I’m Marcus, the DJ behind Speaker Box. I’m based in Bristol but I regularly travel to London for weddings and events. I’m a recommended supplier at Brunswick House in Vauxhall, and I’ve played at venues across the city. The journey is straightforward, under two hours door to door, and the music doesn’t change with the postcode.

What Speaker Box Brings to a London Wedding

My background is in Bristol’s club scene, Soul, Funk, Hip Hop, Rare Groove, with residencies, DJ competitions, and nights shared with the likes of Jazzie B, Daddy G from Massive Attack, and Craig Charles. I’m signed to the Wedding Jam agency alongside DJ Yoda, Craig Charles, and Graeme Park. The credentials are there, but what actually matters is the dancefloor.

Every playlist is built with you beforehand. Your music, your tastes, your absolutely-nots. On the night, I read the room and mix live, no pre-made playlists, no autopilot.

The lighting is pre-programmed track by track through Soundswitch. Atmospheric, responsive, photographer-friendly. Designed to enhance the venue, not turn it into a nightclub (unless that’s what you want).

London Venues I Cover

I’m happy to play at any venue in London. A few I know well or that come up regularly:

  • Brunswick House, Vauxhall, a Georgian mansion filled with salvage and antiques. I’m a recommended supplier here and I’ve played multiple events in the space. It suits the Speaker Box style perfectly.
  • Wilton’s Music Hall, the world’s oldest surviving grand music hall in Whitechapel. Ceremonies on stage, faded theatrical glamour, and a building that was basically made for live music.
  • One Marylebone, a Grade I listed former church designed by Sir John Soane. 27-foot ceilings, stained glass, mosaics, and the Vaults underneath for after-parties.
  • Two Temple Place, a neo-Gothic mansion built for William Waldorf Astor, tucked away near the Strand. Architecturally extraordinary and surprisingly intimate.
  • Asylum Chapel, a deconsecrated Georgian chapel in Peckham with beautifully distressed interiors. Ceremony-only, often paired with nearby warehouse spaces for the reception.
  • Trinity Buoy Wharf, an 1854 chain store connected to London’s only lighthouse, sitting on the Thames. Industrial heritage with serious waterfront views.

If your venue isn’t listed, it doesn’t matter, I’ll play anywhere in London.

Travel and Logistics

London is outside my included 50-mile round trip, so there’s a travel supplement of 50p per mile beyond that. No ULEZ or parking charges added on top. I’m transparent about costs from the start. The exact figure depends on the venue, and I’ll confirm it upfront when you enquire.

I arrive from 5pm and setup takes around 90 minutes. The drive from Bristol is typically under two hours, and I always build in extra time for London traffic.
