Cornwall is one of the most stunning places to get married in the country, clifftop castles, private beaches, hidden estates, and I’ve travelled down for weddings there more than a few times. It’s further from my Bristol base than Bath or Somerset, but it’s a trip I’m always happy to make.

I’m Marcus, the DJ behind Speaker Box. I’ve been DJing for nearly twenty years, grounded in Bristol’s club scene, Soul, Funk, Hip Hop and Rare Groove on Technics turntables. Cornwall might be a drive, but what I bring to the dancefloor doesn’t change with the postcode.

What Speaker Box Brings to a Cornwall Wedding

I DJ on Technics turntables with a 20,000-track library. Live mixing, not a laptop playlist. Every set is built with the couple beforehand, your music, your way, and then adapted on the night as the room tells me what it wants.

The lighting is pre-programmed track by track through Soundswitch. It works with the venue’s atmosphere rather than drowning it out, which matters when your venue is a clifftop fort or a candlelit castle.

No microphone, no announcements, no cheesy DJ patter. Just music and mixing.

Cornwall Venues I Cover

I’m happy to travel to any venue in Cornwall. A few of the ones that come up with couples who’ve enquired:

  • Boconnoc House, a Georgian mansion on a secluded private estate near Lostwithiel, with its own deerpark and 800-year-old church. Gold winner for Best Wedding Venue in Cornwall.
  • Caerhays Castle, a John Nash-designed castle on the south coast with its own unspoilt beach at Porthluney Cove. Clifftop ceremonies, marquee receptions, and internationally acclaimed gardens.
  • Pentillie Castle, a family-run country house on a 1,500-acre estate on the banks of the Tamar. Intimate and beautifully understated.
  • Tregenna Castle, a 1774 castle set within 72 acres above St Ives Bay. Panoramic coastal views and capacity for up to 275 guests.
  • Polhawn Fort, a Napoleonic clifftop fort overlooking Whitsand Bay with its own private beach. Exclusive use, dramatic setting, and unlike anything else on this list.
  • Scorrier House, a stately home in 400 acres near Redruth, owned by the same family for over 250 years. Orangery, walled garden, and a grand hall with sweeping staircase.

If your venue isn’t here, no problem, I’ll play anywhere in Cornwall.

Travel and Logistics

Cornwall is outside my included 50-mile round trip, so there’s a travel surcharge of 50p per mile beyond the included distance. I’m upfront about this when we talk, no surprises. For venues in East Cornwall, the extra cost is modest. For West Cornwall and the far coast, it’s more, but couples who book me for Cornwall tend to know what they want and are happy to make it happen.

I arrive from 5pm and setup takes around 90 minutes. For Cornwall weddings I’ll often travel down earlier in the day to avoid any stress with the journey.

What couples say

“Several of our guests said it was the best wedding DJ they’d ever seen or heard. Worth every mile of the drive.”

“Marcus was absolutely amazing. He took the kind of music and vibe we wanted and ran with it. The easiest of all recommendations to make for anyone looking for a DJ.”
